Learn how MIK handles, protects, and utilizes your corporate and personal data.

Effective Date: March 1, 2026

Your privacy and data security are critically important to us. MIK Platform ("MIK," "we," "us," or "our") operates a global B2B trade platform designed to facilitate cross-border transactions. This Privacy Policy outlines how we collect, use, process, and disclose information when you access our website, use our services, or interact with our platform (the "Services").

1. Information We Collect

When operating a global B2B marketplace, we must collect sufficient information to facilitate trust, verify business entities, and ensure smooth delivery of services. We collect the following types of information:

  • Account Information: When you register as a buyer or seller, we collect corporate details including your company name, business registration number, physical address, industry classification, and corporate website.
  • Contact Information: We collect personal details of the authorized representative, including full name, job title, corporate email address, and phone numbers.
  • Transaction and Trading Data: Information relating to the goods you browse, RFQs (Requests for Quotation) submitted, offers made, negotiation histories, preferred incoterms, target pricing, MOQs, and purchase history.
  • Technical and Usage Data: As you interact with our platform, we automatically collect data such as IP address, browser type, operating system, pages viewed, access times, and interaction with our artificial intelligence models. Our use of cookies is detailed separately in our Cookie Policy.

2. How We Use Your Information

We process the information collected for the following purposes:

  1. Providing the Services: To create and manage your account, facilitate matching between buyers and South Korean sellers, process RFQs and quotations, and enable messaging capabilities.
  2. Security and Verification: To verify your company's identity, detect and prevent fraud, enforce our Terms of Service, and maintain the integrity of our marketplace.
  3. AI and Platform Improvement: To train our artificial intelligence algorithms for better supplier recommendations, automated product imports, and personalized user experiences. (Data used for AI training is anonymized and aggregated where strictly feasible).
  4. Communication: To send you transaction notifications, responses to your inquiries, administrative alerts, and, providing you have explicitly opted in, promotional material and platform updates.
  5. Legal Compliance: To comply with applicable cross-border trade regulations, export controls, taxation laws, and court orders.

3. Information Sharing and Disclosure

To operate a multinational sourcing environment, specific data must be shared. We do not sell your personal data to third parties. We only share data in the following contexts:

  • With Other Platform Users: If you are a Buyer submitting an RFQ, relevant details of your request—which may include your company name and partial contact information—are shared with matched Sellers so they can provide an offer.
  • Service Providers: We share data with trusted third-party vendors who provide hosting, database management, customer support software, AI processing, and analytics. These providers are bound by strict confidentiality obligations.
  • Business Transfers: In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, user data may be transferred as a core business asset, subject to ongoing commitments resembling this Privacy Policy.
  • Legal Requirements: We will disclose information if required by a subpoena, court order, or other legal process, or when we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, prevent fraud, or ensure user safety.

4. International Data Transfers

MIK is headquartered in South Korea, but we serve a global audience. The information we collect may be transferred to, and maintained on, servers located outside of your state, province, country, or other governmental jurisdiction. Notably, data is routed and stored in South Korea and potentially other regions where our cloud providers (e.g., AWS, Supabase, Google) operate. By using our Services, you consent to the cross-border transfer and storage of your information. We rely on recognized compliance mechanisms to ensure adequate data protection.

5. Data Security

We implement commercially reasonable technical and organizational measures to secure your corporate and personal data against unauthorized access, destruction, loss, or alteration. These measures include SSL/TLS encryption for data in transit, secure cloud infrastructures, and rigorous internal access controls. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

6. Data Retention

We retain personal and corporate information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide our Services. Even after account closure, we may retain certain data for accounting, legal, compliance, and dispute resolution purposes. Data that is no longer required is securely deleted or anonymized.

7. Your Privacy Rights

Depending on your geographic location (e.g., under European GDPR or similar privacy frameworks), you may possess specific rights regarding your personal data:

  • Access & Portability: You may request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
  • Correction: You have the right to request that we correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
  • Deletion / Right to be Forgotten: You may request the deletion of your account and associated personal data, subject to our legal retention obligations.
  • Objection / Restriction: You can object to certain processing activities, such as direct marketing or specific AI analysis contexts.

To exercise any of these rights, please contact our Data Protection Officer at privacy@mik.example.com.

8. Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically to reflect changes in our practices, technologies, or legal requirements. When we revise this policy, we will update the "Effective Date" at the top of the page. We encourage you to review this page regularly. Significant modifications will be communicated directly via email or platform notification.
